Prenatal Care

Postpartum & Newborn Care

Labor & Birth Support

I believe care should honor the whole person and protect the dignity of the birth experience. My approach to midwifery supports not only physical health, but also emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being throughout pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum.

When care is grounded in respect and peace, families are better supported to move through birth feeling safe, confident, and deeply honored in their experience.

Each prenatal visit is scheduled for one full hour to allow space for connection, thoughtful care, and unhurried conversation. These visits include clinical monitoring of you and your baby, in-home lab testing as needed, nutrition and lifestyle guidance, preventative care, and education rooted in evidence and informed consent. I prioritize shared decision-making, ensuring your voice is centered and every choice is made with clarity, dignity, and peace.

Labor & Birth Support

Postpartum & Newborn Care

Labor & Birth Support

From 37 weeks on, I am on call for you as you move toward birth. When labor begins, I offer early labor check-ins as needed and join you in active labor when it’s time, meeting you where you are with calm, steady presence.

You will receive continuous throughout active labor, birth, and the first hours after your baby is born. Myself and a trained assistant(s) will be in attendance, working together to support you and your baby. I come equipped with the medications and equipment needed for postpartum hemorrhage management, newborn resuscitation, and perineal repair, so you can birth at home knowing safety is held alongside peace.

You are free to birth in the way that feels most natural and dignified to you. After birth, we protect the golden hour, supporting early bonding while allowing space for rest and connection. I remain with you for two to five hours following the birth, or longer if needed, until both you and your baby are stable, comfortable, and settled.

Postpartum & Newborn Care

Postpartum & Newborn Care

While much of the medical model offers a single postpartum visit, my care is intentionally designed to surround you with continued support, allowing you to remain in a space of peace as you recover and settle into life with your baby.

I deeply honor the dignity and intimacy of the postpartum season and believe care should extend well beyond the fourth trimester. Each visit is thoughtfully scheduled for one full hour, creating unhurried time to support both your physical healing and emotional well-being. Together, we’ll create a postpartum care plan that respects your body, your boundaries, and your family’s unique needs.

Postpartum care includes comprehensive assessments of you and your baby, standard newborn screenings, weight checks, lactation and feeding support, in-home lab testing as needed, nutrition guidance, newborn development education, and support for common postpartum concerns. All care is offered with calm presence, clear communication, and a deep commitment to preserving your peace and dignity during this sacred season.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at hello@edenbirthservices.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

You’re welcome to reach out as soon as you know you’re pregnant. Many families begin care in the first trimester, allowing time to build a trusting relationship, explore options, and move through pregnancy with continuity and support. That said, starting care later in pregnancy is also possible, and we’re happy to talk through what support might look like based on your individual circumstances.

Co-care is available and thoughtfully supported. Some families choose to receive midwifery care alongside an obstetric provider for added collaboration or specific medical needs. Others transition into or out of co-care as pregnancy evolves. We respect that care needs can change, and our goal is to support you in a way that feels both peaceful and appropriate for your situation.

All care decisions are guided by informed consent, open communication, and mutual respect between providers. Whether you are seeking full midwifery care or a collaborative co-care arrangement, we work to ensure you feel supported, heard, and confident in your care every step of the way.

Labs and ultrasounds are offered at specific points throughout pregnancy and are typically billed to, and covered by, insurance. All testing is discussed using informed consent, and not every test is required. These are the standard labs/scans offered in OB-GYN Care.

Initial Visit
Prenatal lab panel, optional genetic screening, and urinalysis

11–13 Weeks
Nuchal translucency ultrasound referral

20 Weeks
Anatomy ultrasound referral
(full evaluation of baby and placenta)

24–28 Weeks
Gestational diabetes screening
Anemia screening

36–37 Weeks
Group B strep (GBS) screening
Follow-up labs if needed

41 Weeks
In-home non-stress test (NST)
Biophysical profile ultrasound referral

Additional labs may be recommended based on your individual pregnancy & health needs. Not all testing is required or mandatory.

Equipment and supplies include tools to monitor fetal heart tones and assess vital signs, medications to manage postpartum bleeding such as pitocin, misoprostol, and tranexamic acid (TXA), IV fluids and antibiotics for GBS prophylaxis when indicated/desired, and oxygen.

I also carry equipment for neonatal resuscitation, supplies for perineal repair including lidocaine and sutures, and newborn medications such as vitamin K and erythromycin eye ointment. In addition, I bring herbs and homeopathic remedies to support comfort and postpartum recovery, as well as options like sterile water injections for pain relief during labor.

This is not an exhaustive list, but it reflects my commitment to combining preparedness with respect for your space, your choices, and the dignity of the birth process.

If a hospital transfer becomes necessary, I will go with you whenever possible to provide continuity of care, support, and advocacy. I help communicate your care history to the hospital team and support you in understanding what’s happening, while honoring your preferences and informed consent. Through five years of experience as a local birth doula, I have built strong, respectful relationships with hospital providers, helping facilitate collaborative and compassionate transitions of care.

A transfer is simply a change in setting to support safety, not a failure. Once you are discharged home, postpartum and newborn care resumes in your home, continuing with the same presence, support, and commitment to your peace and dignity.

24–48 Hour Visit
During the first visit after birth, care includes screening for critical congenital heart defects (CCHD) using a simple pulse oximetry measurement, metabolic screening (also known as the heel poke or PKU), and a comprehensive newborn physical exam. This exam includes weight check, vital signs, feeding assessment, output, and evaluation for jaundice and skin health. Additional newborn testing, such as bilirubin, glucose, or blood typing, is performed as needed. A hearing screen is also offered and completed before six weeks of age.

Routine Newborn Visits
Ongoing visits include continued newborn physical assessments, lactation and feeding support, and postpartum education for parents. As needed, referrals are provided to trusted local resources such as lactation consultants, pediatric providers, pediatric dentists, chiropractic care, and craniosacral therapists.

The midwife completes the appropriate section of the birth certificate and provides a notarized record of birth. Families are responsible for completing the remaining birth certificate paperwork and submitting it to their town hall within six weeks of birth.

All care is offered with calm presence, clear communication, and a commitment to supporting your baby’s health while preserving the dignity and peace of the postpartum season.

The investment for comprehensive home birth midwifery care ranges from $5,000–$6,500 and is offered on a sliding scale. This range reflects the depth of care provided, including extended prenatal visits in your home, on-call availability for birth, continuous labor and birth support, postpartum and newborn care, and ongoing guidance rooted in informed consent and relationship-based care.

The sliding scale is designed to honor the diverse financial realities of families while preserving the sustainability of this work. During your initial consultation, we’ll openly discuss where you may fall within the range and create a plan that feels respectful, clear, and aligned.

Payment plans are available, and details are reviewed together so that finances feel transparent and manageable, not stressful.
